ALIX LUKAS ILLUSTRATION

DAWN OF LIFE GALLERY
ROYAL ONTARIO MUSEUM
The Willner Madge Dawn of Life Gallery opened at the ROM in Toronto December of 2021. My work was featured along with 14 other paleo artists in effort to bring these fascinating early creatures to life and tell the story of the beginnings of life on earth.
My subjects were early single-celled organisms, providing examples of simple photosynthetic cells and the evolution of more complex animal cells, fungi and algae.
I also created a conceptual reconstruction of the Last Universal Common Ancestor (LUCA), the most recent link to all life on earth. It was an amazing project that I am grateful to have been a part of, and I'm humbled to count myself among the small pieces of life's continued great experiment.
